-Krypto and Ace, during their first meeting

The Dark Hound Strikes! is ninth episode from the first season of Krypto the Superdog.

Summary[]

Krypto becomes Bat-Hound's partner when they chase after Joker's hyenas.

Plot[]

While flying over Metropolis, on patrol, Krypto receives a sound wave from his super hearing and is nearly hit by a flying batarang that whizzes past him. He realizes that someone is trying to get his attention and follows the batarang and happens upon a mysterious figure atop a building and clashes with none other than Bat Hound in person. After Krypto compliments the Bat Hound's outfit, the latter introduces himself and explains, that the Joker is planning a robbery in Metropolis, therefore Ace is leading an investigation with the help of local snitches. Krypto offers help, but the Bat Hound declines and glides away.

There is a panic inside one of the buildings. A rat named Jimmy is trying to obtain profit from the situation, when Ace interrupts him. Pressing on Jimmy reveals, that Batman's arch enemy named Joker has dispatches his pet hyenas to Metropolis in apparently nefarious purposes. Jimmy is left free to fend for himself. The rat was not lying, Bud and Lou indeed are present at the fair, pretending to be Tanzanian Giggle Hounds. The hyenas secretly poison other dog show participants with a sleeping gas, which allows them to reach a money bag. Their plan is interrupted by Ace and Krypto, who make their entrance shortly before Bud manages to claim the loot. After a brief chat, a fight breaks in. Ace overpowers Bud, but only for a moment- the hyena uses his electroshock collar to repel the Bat-Hound. Lou causes large tubular objects to collapse upon unconscious people and dogs to distract Krypto. Hopefully, nobody gets injured due to Superdog's best efforts.

Krypto and Ace chase Joker's hyenas on top of the building, when the dog show was taking place. Despite being surrounded, Lou sneakingly turns on an electromagnetic field, which stops the heroes. With the canine heroes immobilized, Bud ejects them high in the skies using a huge magnetic-engined frisbee. After considerable amount of struggle, Ace develops an idea - Krypto has to disable the frisbee's magnetic engine with his laser gaze before they reach the warp space. Krypto carries out the plan and it works, when the frisbee starts to lose height. Krypto manages to maneuver the disc without causing Ace to fall off the frisbee. The Bat-Hound compliments the Superdog, then he states that they should give hyenas their toy back.

Bud and Lou have managed to abandon the building with stolen money. They keep striking jokes while running, until they spot danger in the skies. A moment later, they get pinned down by the frisbee they previously used to get rid of Krypto and Ace. The hyenas are weeping of defeat as they are taken to the Metropolis Zoo. With the menace solved, the dog show can be resumed. After a brief chat, Krypto and Ace depart from one another. The episode ends with Ace watching Krypto fly in the night.
